Am I the only one fascinated by people with several talents? Ana Ventura is one of those cases. But for now, let’s focus on one of them: Ana Ventura, the model.
One thing I love about “go sees”/testshoots is the surprises they bring you. Karina’s face wasn’t exactly new to me. Though we had never met, I had seen her work around the web and on magazines. She was looking for new pola …
I’m tagging this as a 2020 post, but truth be told, this is still from the last days of 2019. Doina is from Moldova, but she came to Lisbon to study and guess what…? She fell in love with the city and ended up moving in.
I think 2019 was the year where I met less models and now that I think of it, I kind of miss it. But that’s just the way things go, sometimes schedules and deadlines are what they are and I end up missing some really nice people who are passing by Portugal.
I met Mariana Montes in 2013, when she was starting out as a model… actually, on the day we shot the photos bellow, she told me that she remembers that 2013 shoot as one of her first serious photo shoots…
I was supposed to have met Maria, back in August, when I went to Helsinki. But at the time, she was out of town, so, it didn’t happen. Fortunately, her modelling life, brought her to Lisbon and we finally got the chance to meet in person…
Sometimes, testshoots are a great way to test a model’s level of professionalism. At this point, I’ve seen a bit of everything, from those who couldn’t care less about testshoots and even seem to be bored by doing them, to those who behave just like if they were shooting for the cover of a major magazine. Joana Graça is another fine example of the latter.
Carolin approached me with a level of self awareness, that you don’t see in most models. Already having some years of experience in this business and a beautiful portfolio, developed mostly in Germany (where she's from), she realised there were…
Shooting new faces, is one of those double-edged sword situations for me. On one hand, they…
Unlike the other two models I had the pleasure of meeting/shooting, Jasmin (from the previous post) and Lotta (that you’ll meet in the next one), with Johanna, unfortunately, I only had about 2 hours.
Those who’ve been following me on Instagram, and in particular my Stories, may have noticed that last month I've been in Helsinki. I’ll probably write a whole post about it, but for now, I’ll just start with the first of three posts about the super nice models I had the pleasure of meeting there.
On the previous blog post about test shoots, I wrote about their importance, but I’ve been asked why didn’t I talk about how to choose models. I didn’t write about it on purpose, because I think that's a very subjective/personal decision/choice.
Test shoots is where almost everyone in the fashion industry begins. Photographers, models, stylists, make up artists and hair stylists, etc… pretty much everyone starts there. But what exactly are these and why are they so important?
Ewa is another good example of my admiration and respect for models who put themselves out there in the world. Not being able to travel as often as I wished, it’s always nice to at least meet people who are doing it and have stories to tell.
I have been using this blog sometimes to share stories of models and sometimes to share my experience shooting them, but always, with the intent of passing some useful info to you.
I’m always curious about the way things work in other markets and countries. And considering that Hungary is the origin of top models like Vanessa Axente, Eniko Mihalik and Barbara Palvin...
Rosa has been enjoying one of the best perks of being a model: travelling! After a season in Bali, she’s now back in Europe, having stopped in Portugal for a couple weeks.
...when you notice that after 3 hours of shooting, you could still go on, that means you are not only getting along with the model, but that you are working with someone who also loves what she’s doing.
Even without knowing Caroline, I could easily imagine we were going to spend a good time together and end up with good photos...
Test shoots, usually, don’t require planning, though one is expected to end up with some specific results… the portraits, the full body, the American plan/shot… everything that has potencial to go into the model's portfolio or composite.
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting these young ladies from Just Models, coming from three different countries.
Do you remember Rita Mota (from this post or this one)? It’s been two years since we last shot together, but a few weeks ago, she stopped by the studio with her younger (and twin) sisters - Alice and Eva.
