Shooting new faces, is one of those double-edged sword situations for me.
On one hand, they require more time to shoot and the resulting images aren’t usually the most striking ones. But on the other hand, I’m always curious to meet the faces with potential to be tomorrow’s big names in this industry.
Now, this is obviously a general remark, which means, it can be unfair to some new faces. I get that, but if I'm being really honest, there’s no other way to put it. And as the saying goes “every rule, has its exception”.
And then, in the middle of this double-edged sword situation of evaluating new faces, every once in a while, there’s one of those cases that grabs your attention, though you can’t clearly explain why. Inês Adriano was one of those cases and since I’m writing this, I guess I need to put it in words. Truth is, every time I saw photos of her on my feed, I thought to myself that if she was standing in front of my camera, I would know exactly what to do. And so, I decided to follow my instinct.
When we started exchanging messages and talking about what she was looking for, the type of photos she liked, what she liked/didn’t like about being a model and so on, I started to realise that she’s wasn't just another cute looking girl.
On set, we started with a plain black background, to test her expressions. And that’s when I knew my instinct was correct. She played, she wasn’t afraid of trying different expressions or poses, she showed a notable willing to learn, but above all, she was having fun!
If KAEOT was still active, I would say she’s someone to keep and eye on!

Fotografar new faces, para mim, é uma daquelas situações tipo “faca de dois gumes”.
Por um lado, requerem mais tempo para fotografar e as imagens finais, podem nem sempre ser as mais cativantes. Mas, por outro lado, é-me difícil resistir à minha curiosidade de conhecer aquelas que podem vir a ser as próximas caras da indústria.
Claro que, isto é uma observação genérica e como tal, reconheço que possa ser injusta para algumas pessoas. Mas também, como diz o povo, “toda a regra tem a sua excepção”.
E, no meio desta sempre ingrata situação de avaliar new faces, volta e meia, lá aparece uma cara que me chama a atenção, mesmo que não seja capaz de explicar claramente o porquê. A Inês Adriano foi um desses casos e uma vez que estou a escrever isto, acho que tenho mesmo de encontrar palavras. A verdade, é que sempre que via fotografias dela no meu feed, ficava com a sensação de que se a tivesse à frente da minha câmera, saberia exactamente o que fazer com ela. E foi com base nisto, que decidi seguir o meu instinto.
Quando começámos a falar sobre o que ela procurava, o tipo de fotografias que gostava, o que ela gosta e não gosta enquanto modelo, comecei a perceber que a Inês não é apenas mais uma miúda bonita.
Já em set, começámos com um fundo simples preto, para testar a expressividade dela. E foi aí que percebi que o meu instinto estava certo. Ela brincou, experimentou, mexeu-se à vontade, sem medo de experimentar diferentes poses ou expressões e sempre com vontade de perceber o que resultava melhor com ela. Acima de tudo, ela estava a divertir-se!
Se o KAEOT ainda estivesse activo, diria que ela é um daqueles casos para manter debaixo de olho!
