Rock that denim!
You can never go wrong with denim, right? I'm frequently asked "what should I take to a photoshoot?" well, bringing some denim pieces is like "mandatory". That and leather jackets! Remember this post I did about it?
Anyway, I’m no fashionista nor a stylist and I can’t really explain why I like denim, maybe it’s my 70’s and 80’s influences? Not sure… What I do know, is that if you aspire to be a model, you gotta know how to make a denim piece look cool 😃
And to prove that, I got together with Rita Mota again (you might remember her from this previous post, when she helped me testing the Fuji X-T2). This time, the rules were: only denim. We wanted to prove that we could do a set of images wearing only denim.
It seemed interesting when I first thought of it, though I couldn’t help but wondering if this limitation wouldn’t be an issue, because I knew we wouldn’t have that many options. Anyway, I stopped worrying about that when I knew Rita would be the model. I knew she had the right energy for this and that together, we would make it work.
I’m pretty happy with the results of this challenge! Rita lived up to expectations and proved that in testshoots (and pretty much any shooting in general), it doesn’t really matter if you have fancy clothes available or not. It’s all about what YOU can bring to the game!

Se há peça de roupa com a qual é difícil falhar, é a ganga! Perguntam-me muitas vezes que roupa devem levar para uma sessão… e bom, peças de ganga, são quase sempre “obrigatórias”. Isso e os blusões de cabedal! Lembram-se deste post sobre esse assunto?
Seja como for, não sou de todo um fashionista e na verdade, nem sei bem explicar porque gosto de ver as gangas nas fotografias… talvez sejam as minhas influências dos anos 70 e 80? Não sei exactamente… O que sei, é que quem se considera uma modelo ou tem intenções de vir a ser uma, tem de saber fazer funcionar peças básicas, como as de ganga.
E para provar isso, juntei-me novamente com a Rita Mota (talvez se lembrem dela deste post, quando me ajudou a testar a Fuji X-T2). Desta vez, as regras foram: apenas gangas. Quisemos mostrar que conseguíamos fazer um conjunto de imagens boas, só com peças de ganga.
Quando pensei na coisa pela primeira vez, pareceu-me interessante, mas depois… não pude deixar de pensar se isto não se tornaria numa limitação, uma vez que não teríamos assim muitas opções de roupa. Mas evitei não pensar muito nas limitações, porque iria estar com a Rita e já sabia que ela tem aquela energia com que posso contar, para poder fazer a coisa resultar.
Fiquei bastante contente com o resultado final deste desafio! A Rita esteve bem à altura das expectativas e provou que nos testshoots (e nos shootings em geral), não importa propriamente se temos à nossa disposição roupas de marca ou de designers famosos. O que realmente interessa, é o que é TU podes acrescentar a um shooting!
