One of the biggest challenges with shooting actresses is Time. They always seem to be running from one place to the other, in between filming, or rehearsals or some of their daily routine responsibilities (yes, they are humans and they also have personal responsibilities they have to attend to).

So, contrary to what many people think, not everything is wonderful and easy when shooting a public figure or an actress. And that’s where the challenge comes in: even if they are tired because of their crazy schedules or not focused in the present moment, it’s up to us, photographers, to bring them in and do the best we can in the little time they have available for the shoot.

Ok, this intro is long enough already, because this is a post about Vera Kolodzig. The shooting with her, was also one of those cases in which we didn’t have that much time, but things worked out very well, because she came in with a relaxed and playful attitude. And I gotta admit, this was kind of a surprise… I always have a hard time describing people with words (I guess that’s why I’m a photographer and not a journalist or writer), but truth is, I had a different picture of Vera. Maybe because I didn’t know her work that well, I used to think she was a more of a distant person, you know?

But from the moment she stepped in the studio, that changed. All the laughs and all the good spirits she came in with, totally changed the image I had about her and we ended up having a great time while shooting.

As of the photos, well… you let me know what you think 🙂 I just wish we had had more time, to explore more of her acting skills.

Um dos grande desafios em fotografar actrizes, é o Tempo. Elas parecem andar sempre a correr de um lado para o outro, entre filmagens, ou ensaios ou entre os seus afazeres diários (sim, porque elas também são humanas e têm as suas responsabilidades sociais e pessoais).

E, ao contrário do que muita gente pensa, nem tudo é fácil e maravilhoso, só porque se está a fotografar uma figura pública ou uma actriz. E é então aqui, que entra o desafio: mesmo que elas estejam cansadas, por causa dos horários loucos ou mesmo que não estejam focadas naquele momento, cabe-nos a nós, fotógrafos, conseguir centrá-las naquele momento e fazer o melhor possível, no curto espaço de tempo disponível para fotografar.

Bom, já me alonguei com a introdução, porque este post é sobre a Vera Kolodizg. Foi também um dos casos em que não tivemos assim tanto tempo disponível quanto isso, mas a sessão acabou por resultar muito bem, porque ela veio com uma atitude bastante rexalada e divertida para a sessão. E tenho de admitir, que até me surpreendeu um pouco… tenho sempre dificuldade em descrever as pessoas com palavras (talvez seja por isso que sou fotógrafo e não escritor ou jornalista), mas a verdade é que eu tinha uma imagem diferente da Vera. Talvez porque não conhecesse o seu trabalho assim tão bem, tinha uma ideia de uma pessoa assim mais distante, sabem?

Mas desde o momento que ela entrou no estúdio, que essa minha ideia mudou. As gargalhadas fáceis e constantes e a boa disposição com que ela veio, mudaram completamente a ideia que eu tinha dela e acabámos por passar um óptimo bocado enquanto íamos fotografando.

Quanto às fotografias, bom… digam-me vocês o que acham 🙂 eu só fiquei com pena de não termos tido mais tempo, para explorar mais o lado de representação da Vera.
