I’ve always heard that life is simple, yet, it seems we always find ways of making it complex. And while I try to incorporate that simplicity in my life, passing that to my work, seems to be slightly harder.

One of the ways I’ve been trying to do that, is by doing individual photoshoots, just me and the person I’m photographing. I guess it can’t get more simpler than this, right? But there are times, specially when you want to explore themes or concepts, when extra layers are required, extra pairs of hands, extra insights.

And that’s how this photoshoot came to be. I wanted to show how to shoot jewellery in the most simple way. So, the stylist and producer Lúcia Valdevino and the make up artist Marta Pereira, joined me to add that extra special touch I knew was required. And obviously, we needed someone else, someone that could blend her own natural features with these intricate pieces of jewellery and that’s where Kate Barysheva from Just Models, came in.

Sempre ouvi dizer que a vida é simples, mas que nós, conseguimos arranjar sempre forma de a complicar. E embora ande a tentar incorporar a simplicidade na minha própria vida, incorporar isso no meu trabalho, tem se revelado altamente desafiante.

Uma das formas que tenho tentado, é através das sessões fotográficas individuais, apenas eu e a pessoa fotografada. Acho que mais simples que isto, não pode haver, certo? Mas há ocasiões, em especial quando se quer desenvolver conceitos ou temas, em que são necessárias umas camadas extra, um par de mãos extra, visões extra.

E foi assim que esta sessão aconteceu. Queria mostrar como fotografar peças de joalharia da forma mais simples possível. E então, a styling e produtora Lúcia Valdevino e a maquilhadora Marta Pereira, juntaram-se a mim, para aquele toque especial, que eu sabia que era preciso. E claro, precisávamos de mais alguém… de alguém cujas feições naturais, se misturassem com as intricadas peças de joalharia e foi aqui que entrou a Kate Barysheva da Just Models.

Os quatro, juntos, criámos estas imagens das quais estou bastante orgulhoso. Mas digam-me vocês, o que acham?
